What I offer
Experience in a wide variety of optical imaging modalities and their respective preparation methods, primarily in light and electron microscopy. Presentation of local and regional networks for biomedical imaging. Facilitating scientific discussions about cell biology, developmental biology and aging research by presenting landmark papers; improvement of presentation techniques. If interested, there will be an excursion to a collection of congenital malformations (closed to the public). Training in Good-Scientific Practice (GSP): rules, modes of conduct, and contact points for support at the MedUni Vienna. Gain insights into teaching modes at the MedUni Vienna. Exchange of experience on combining an academic career with having children.
I offer also the topic "Studying with a child".
What I expect from the students
Curiosity and attendance
Time constraints for meetings
4-5 times per semester
each approx. 1 hour
primarily at the Center for Anatomy and Cell Biology
What else I would like to say
I am an experienced PI at the Center for Anatomy and Cell Biology, Division of Cell and Developmental Biology. I head a Workgroup that focusses on nuclear structure and its changes during differentiation and dedifferentiation in the context of normal development and aging and during pathology (www.meduniwien.ac.at/celldev/). Our small team has extensive experience in using both microscope-based and molecular methods. In addition to my research work, I am involved in teaching, primarily to medical undergraduates, in the subjects of cell biology, histology, embryology and developmental biology.
