What I offer
As a clinician, it is of particular concern to me to impart clinical knowledge to students, but also to strengthen their social skills and to encourage them to engage in joint discussions of challenging (ethical) situations. Interdisciplinary rounds are the heart during the care for a specific patient, to enable optimized medical treatment. As mentees are always invited to take part and join the daily routine work, they may get an impression of the clinical and research work.
Moreover, it is important to me to foster research careers of young academics, and to make aware of cross-talks between bench and bedside.
Additionally, students could benefit from my established international collaborations, and research stays abroad could be organized.
What I expect from the students
Enthusiasm for research and clinics, sincerity and loyalty.
Time constraints for meetings
Flexibel time arrangements are offered and will be adapted to the needs of the mentees (e.g. after routine work). A minimum of 6 group meetings lasting for one hour are planned. Additionally to the group meetings, I am also available promptly, if students face problems. The location of the meetings is the Vienna General Hospital, Dept. of Angiology. However, joint attendance of scientific conferences and classes is also offered.
