What I offer

When I started my university career, I was able to face and overcome some situations only thanks to the presence of good mentoring. Therefore, I think it is mandatory for me now to share my own expertise. Particullarly, I would like to pass on information on a scientific career, from diploma thesis to PhD to a possible Habilitation. I offer insights into everyday scientific work, specifically:
  • Diploma thesis support and supervision
  • Ethical consideration
  • Statistical planning
  • Scientifical writing
  • Building connection
  • Grant application
  • Advice and planning of the personal career path
  • Talks about work-life balance and time management
Involvement in my ongoing scientific/research activity is also possible.

What I expect from the students

I expect students to be interested in Neonatal Neuroscience. It is important to me to have a courious and active group. In general I expect:

  • Interest in the mentoring program
  • Active cooperation and respectful interaction
  • Reliable scheduling

Time constraints for meetings

  • Regular meetings will be arranged in a flexible way.
  • My goal would be to meet at least once a month for about 1-2 hours.
  • Meetings will take place at the Kinderklinik of the Medical University of Vienna.

What else I would like to say

I was Born in Cosenza (Italy) and therefore I´m an Italian native speaker. I speak fluently English and German and have a good understanding of Spanish. I have graduated in Clinical Neuroscience (CLINS), doctoral program of the Medical University of Vienna (Austria). I have specialized  in cognitive neuropsychology with a background in  "Diagnosis and Rehabilitation of Cognitive Disorders" (second-level Master's degree in Psychology). In more, I´m a certified European clinical psychologist. Curently I´m active as lectures in BL, JC and PS for the doctoral program Clinical Neuscience.
I´m also member of the neonatal neurology research group (guided from Prof. Klebermass-Schrehof and Prof. Resch), of the austrian neonatal brain club, of the cognitive neuroscience lab (guided from Prof. Bartha-Doering), and I´m activelly involved in the neonatal follow-up clinic for children born preterm (guieded from Dr. Fuiko). I consider myself as an expert in neonatal neurophysiologist, but i´m also confident in other research methods like fNIRS and eyetracking.
Currently i´m involved in several research projects concerning both the development of the central nervous system as well as the cognitive assessment of premature babies. The main focus of my research is:

  • Pain and sedation assessment in neonataes admited to a NICU.
  • Bonding, mother-children bio-behavioural coupling.
  • Machine learning for automatic EEG interpretation
  • NICU noise level and management
  • Neurodevelopmental outcome of children born preterm.
