What I offer

I would like to offer interested students the opportunity to explore a variety of academic topics and career paths in an open and supportive environment.

The specific topics will be chosen collaboratively during the first session and can be adjusted along the way to match your interests. Potential topics include:

  • Clarification of requirements for your studies
  • Academic career planning at the MedUni Wien (habilitation, IKV)
  • Research stays abroad
  • National and international funding opportunities
  • Handling rejection in academia
  • Work–life balance

…and more

In addition, I see great value in fostering connections among participants. To encourage exchange and build a sense of community, I plan to integrate group activities such as discussions, lab visits and even informal outings like hikes.

What I expect from the students

Overall, I’m looking forward to working with independent, highly motivated students who are eager to gain insights into different areas of academia alongside their studies. For a productive and respectful collaboration, I expect participants to demonstrate reliability, including punctuality and effective time management.

Time constraints for meetings

As part of the Senior Mentoring Programme, six meetings are planned over the course of the full academic year (2 semesters).

The first meeting (approx. 90 minutes) will take place at the beginning of the semester and will be used to set initial group goals and schedule the remaining sessions.

The format and duration of the following meetings may vary depending on the group’s interests and level of engagement. Drawing on my background in the sports sector, I also offer the option of integrating physical activities—such as hiking or climbing—combined with informal discussion rounds.

What else I would like to say

I completed my doctorate at the Medical University of Vienna in 2018 and am therefore familiar with the internal structures from firsthand experience. I'm personally committed to sharing these insights with you—hoping they’ll help make your journey through the doctoral program a little smoother.
