What I offer
Insights into everyday research life as a scientist: from planning studies and experimental trials to publication.
Mentoring in the following areas:
- How does research work?
- Preparing conference papers, publications, and research proposals
- Dealing with failure
- Career planning at MedUni Vienna (e.g., IKV, stays abroad)
- Research collaborations
The mentoring aims specifically at students interested in research who are considering a career in science.
What I expect from the students
- Students who are interested in a career in science.
- Interest in research and science
- Motivation and willingness to engage in discussion
- Respectful behavior and reliability
- Trust
- Fundamental enjoyment of what you do and the ability not to take everything too seriously.
- !! Active involvement in the Mentoring Program !! In particular, this means the mentees need to engage in organizing appointments.
What I do not offer is active assistance in finding a scientific position at MedUni Vienna or coaching in finding/developing a thesis topic. This is the job of your supervisor.
Time constraints for meetings
- Approximately 3 times per semester and more if necessary (~2h per meeting).
- Time to be agreed by consensus (e.g., late afternoon).
- By arrangement, e.g., at the Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering (AKH 4L), but preferably outside the AKH (e.g., cafe).
What else I would like to say
I am passionate about research, specializing in medical imaging in nuclear medicine. My main focus is on new developments. I don't take myself too seriously and believe it's important to enjoy what you do. I will have a good time with interested colleagues.
